Defend the Amazon Reef
Oil giants BP and Total are planning to drill for oil near the Amazon Reef, risking a spill that could not only devastate the corals and sponges, but have a huge impact on people and animals in the region.
Why this Matters
Hidden near the mouth of the Amazon River is an underwater world so unique, it’s astonished scientists. Home to pink corals, sunset-coloured fish and over 60 species of sea sponge, the Amazon Reef is a thriving ecosystem that we’ve barely explored.
We want to tear apart the way corporations and governments collude to make a profit at the expense of both people and planet. They must be held accountable and liable, for their impact on the climate and biodiversity loss.
